Scottish Upland Sheep Support Scheme (SUSSS) 2026
Flat-rate payment for each homebred ewe hogg kept on rough grazing farms that rely on Payment Region 3 land.

- Rate set each year from the number of hoggs claimed; the 2025 rate was £64.80 per ewe hogg. Budget up to about £7m a year.
- Who can apply
- Sheep producers with at least 80% of their agricultural land in Payment Region 3 and less than 200 ha of Region 1, who claimed BPS Region 3 land on the 2026 SAF. Maximum one ewe hogg per 4 ha.

What you’ll need
- 2026 SAF with a BPS Region 3 claim
- Up-to-date flock register and correct tags
- Hoggs kept on the holding (including away wintering) from 1 December 2026 to 31 March 2027
How to apply
- Claim online through Rural Payments and Services, or post a paper claim form to your RPID area office
- List every retention location on the claim
- Submit by midnight on Monday 30 November 2026
Guidance published 22 July 2026; 2026 window opened 1 September 2026. RPID area offices are closed on 30 November, but paper claims can go in the office letterbox. 2025 rate published 15 May 2026. Payment by 30 June.
