Bovine TB at your farm
Which TB area your farm is in, how often the herd is tested, what you need before cattle leave or after you buy them in, and a reminder for your next test.
A CPH number gives the exact parish. We use the one in My details if you've saved it. Parishes come from APHA's published lists; a few Welsh areas have moved since, so your vet or APHA has the final word.
Your next herd test
Moving cattle: the short version
- Pre-movement test: in England's High Risk and Edge Areas and all of Wales, cattle over 42 days old need a clear TB test in the 60 days before they move (30 days in Scotland, for cattle coming from higher-risk herds). The 60 days count from the day the test is read.
- Post-movement test: herds in England's Low Risk Area and the yearly part of the Edge Area test cattle brought in from higher-risk areas 60 to 120 days after they arrive.
- Exempt moves include moves straight to slaughter and some moves to approved finishing units. Check before you move.
- Keep TB test charts for at least 3 years and 60 days.

Compensation: cattle taken as TB reactors are paid for at set table values in England and Wales. How disease compensation works.
